The study summarised in this policy brief investigated the various factors, determining mechanisms, and underlying processes through which the 2017 Nepali local elections interacted with the advancement of political participation and societal peace across several localized jurisdictions. Through a series of interviews as well as a survey, these mechanisms were uncovered and analyzed, as summarized in the following pages of this report.
