The South Asian Regional Institute on the Study and Practice of Strategic Nonviolent Action offers practitioners and scholars an opportunity to learn about, and reflect on, ways to achieve social change nonviolently. This institute is designed for practitioners, scholars, teachers, professionals, and other future peacebuilders across South Asia. This Institute is organized with four objectives in mind;
- Disseminate and share the theory and practice of strategic nonviolent action in the South Asia region
- Build a vibrant regional network of grassroots activists and scholars interested and/or involved in the study and practice of strategic nonviolent action
- Identify potential joint scholar-practitioner initiatives to advance knowledge about the study and practice of strategic nonviolent action
- Identify specific conflicts in the region that scholars and practitioners work on or are involved in which can benefit from integration or reinforcement of a nonviolent resistance perspective
This Asian Action Institute is jointly organized by the Center for Social Change (CSC), the Department of Conflict, Peace and Development Studies (DCPDS) at Tribhuvan University, the National Network of the Families of the Disappeared and Missing Nepal (NEFAD) and the International Center on Nonviolent Conflict (ICNC). This institute will take place in Nepal on March 2019. For more information about the Institute please visit http://www.asianactioninstitute.org/
