Developing and advancing Peer Support and Peer Education Leadership Model among Young People (2016)
The project implemented by CSC in collaboration with Helen Keller International (HKI) aimed to increase resilience, food security and improve access to economic opportunities by improving health status and nutritional behaviors in adolescent/youth, farmers, 1000 days’ mothers and their children. It addressed critical root causes of poverty, food insecurity and malnutrition, and focuses on households unable to absorb shocks from disasters or adapt to climate change impacts. In order to achieve the broader objectives of the project, this project was focused on preparing the materials and conduct workshop for adolescents on leadership to transfer the knowledge and skills to group and their peers in vulnerable community. The Leadership workshop was a foundation to initiate peer to peer approach for social and behavior change communication in communities. Based on the cascade training, the adolescent leader/peer educator were able to receive knowledge, information and regular coaching, and counseling to adopt recommended behavior. The project also aimed to produce cascade session plan/training manual for child club member from their group. The cascade workshop/training also sought to support and monitor the community level training conducted by trained peer educator in their community.
